Currently working as Regulatory Strategy Specialist for Globo TV Network, Coordinator of Technical Module in Forum SBTVD, member of the Delegation of Brazil in ITU-R (SG 6) and CITEL (PCC.II), member of the TV Reception Technical Group (GT-Rx) of the Brazilian TV Switch-Over Group (GIRED), member of the Technical Module of SBTVD Forum and member of the Harmonization Working Group of ISDB-T International Forum.

Alan leads InterDigital’s Standards and Business Strategy team, where he manages a global team of senior expert technologies who participate in major video standards bodies and important industry forums. Alan has been a board member of the UHD Alliance and a member of the CTA Video Board, and since 2013 has been the chair of ATSC’s TG3/S34-1 and S41 groups, the video technology standardization group for ATSC 3.0. He holds 16 granted patents in the field of digital video. Alan currently chairs ATSC’s PT-6 group on Internationalization of ATSC 3.0 as well.

Alan spent the first decade of his 30+ year career working as a research staff member at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He worked for many years on real-time signal and image processing systems for laser radar systems, a key component of the Strategic Defense Initiative, and also on wind-shear detecting weather radars now installed in more than 100 airports in the US. Alan’s significant contributions to MIT/LL are acknowledged in the book, “Lincoln Laboratory: Technology in Support of National Security.”

After leaving MIT, Alan joined a NJ-based DSP startup, Ariel Corporation, where as principal software architect, he wrote software, firmware and development tools for high density parallel DSP computing hardware, and for early DSL CPE products. Alan was a key technical expert who helped grow Ariel from a 25-person startup to a 150+ person public company in less than three years.

After leaving Ariel, Alan started a software consulting group in the Princeton area, that brought him into the video field, as clients included Sarnoff, NEC Research Institute and Bell Labs, where he and his small team worked on vision systems, video watermarking, video codecs and streaming media.

Alan joined the Thomson Multimedia Princeton Research Center in 2002, leading a team creating a software implementation of the then-evolving H.264/AVC video codec, which was integrated into many Thomson products: IPTV set-top boxes, Grass Valley professional editing tools, live broadcast video encoders, DVD/Blu-Ray authoring systems and more. Alan had a varied 17-year career with Thomson/Technicolor, working in software development, R&D management, organizational development, process improvement, and technology and standards strategy in the video distribution and consumer spaces. Alan was appointed as a Technicolor Fellow in 2015.

Adrian Murtaza serves as Fraunhofer’s Senior Standards Manager in a number of industry  standards bodies, including DVB, ATSC, CTA, HbbTV and SCTE, and is the co-author of multiple specifications in those groups. Adrian Murtaza joined MPEG in 2013 and since then contributed to development of various audio technical standards.

More recently he focused on specification of Next Generation Audio delivery and transport in ATSC 3.0 systems and MPEG-2 Transport Stream based DVB or ISDB-T systems, as well as on enabling of MPEG-H Audio services in different broadcast and streaming ecosystems. With a strong interest in VR/AR media solutions he is actively involved in MPEG-I efforts targeting future immersive applications.

Marcelo F. Moreno is an Associate Professor at Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), where he is a permanent member of the Computer Science Postgraduate Program. He holds Master and Doctorate degrees on Informatics from PUC-Rio. He holds leadership roles in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), including the rapporteurship of ITU-T Question 13/16 (Multimedia application platforms and end systems for IPTV), the co-chairmanship of IRG-IBB (Intersector Group on Integrated Broadcast-Broadband), the vice-chairmanship of ITU-T Study Group 16 (Multimedia) and the editorship of many ITU-T Recommendations and technical papers. He is also a coordinator of the Middleware Working Group at the Brazilian Digital TV System Forum (SBTVD). He has a solid history of publications and presentations in both Academia and Industry events.

Graduated in electronic engineering, specializing in Telecommunications, in Porto Alegre; has a graduate degree from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, in Evanston, Chicago. Participated on the Deliberative Council of the Forum of the Brazilian Terrestrial Digital TV System in the Broadcasting sector. Headed up the creation of digital TV broadcasters in Porto Alegre and Florianópolis, as well as other broadcasters in the same states (RS and SC).

Jurandir Pitsch is a postgraduate electronics engineer from Unicamp. He worked at Telebrás CPqD as a satellite researcher for 11 years. He later worked at Comsat Brasil in various positions in engineering, operations, product marketing and sales. Since 2003 he has been with SES in sales and business development. He is currently Commercial Vice President of Video for Latin America.

Guilherme Saraiva, Director for Media Sales, Space Segment and International Business, heads up the sales team at Embratel in the Media and Space Segment in Brazil, as well as Latin America.

With a degree in Telecommunications Engineering-IME, he holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the FGV and is taking BI and Artificial Intelligence at PUC.

In addition to his academic credentials, he has built a long career over 30 years in the telecommunications and media fields, working for major companies in the industry, like Telecine, Globosat and British Telecom/ Comsat/ NET/ Vicom.

Entrepreneur in the area of technological innovation, founding partner of HIRIX Software Engineering and HXD Smart Solutions, a company that since 2007 has been “thinking and making the new television in Brazil”. He is a member of SET Deliberative Council. He is a guest researcher at CITI (Interactive Center for Interactive Technologies) and LabArteMidia-Laboratory of Art, Media and Digital Technologies, both from the University of São Paulo (USP) ; and Ambassador of Campus Party, an organization that brings together a worldwide community of developers and makers with a mission of “building a new source code for the world.”

Fabio is a technology executive and entrepreneur combining 20 years of experience in start-ups, consulting, media, service provider, and technology companies. At Synamedia since October 2018, he is heading LatAm strategy, marketing programs, products, and partners. Currently living in Sao Paulo, and whilst two children keep him busy, Fabio is passionate about nature, children, water sports, music, and cycling.

Mónia Gomes is a businesswoman, entrepreneur and executive president of two companies, MOG Technologies Ltd. in Brazil and Marketing Minds Lda. in Portugal. She is LATAM business development leader at MOG Technologies, a company that develops end-to-end technologies for Professional Media. Gomes was born in Maputo, Mozambique and after moving to Portugal, in her early teens, she always felt attracted by warmer climates, with a special connection with Latin America. With a career focused on establishing new markets and on business development for technology and innovation companies, Gomes have generated over 35 million in revenue, primarily in South America, Europe and Africa, for companies like Ambidata, OpenSoft, WeTek and MOG Technologies.

Hubert Legrix has more than 20 years of sales, product marketing, and engineering experience in the telecommunication industry. Prior to joining Broadpeak, he served as Sales Director for Latin America at Witbe and previously Sales Director at Technicolor.

As CTO at Globo, Raymundo Barros is responsible for overseeing Broadcast Engineering, Corporate IT, and Digital Products. He led and spearheaded major initiatives such as the transition to digital TV and the creation and distribution of 4K, 4K HDR and 8K content, besides the launch of Globoplay, Globo’s OTT product Before assuming his role as CTO, Barros worked as Engineering Manager at an O&O regional station, Director of Engineering at Globo Sao Paulo, and Director of Engineering for Entertainment, where he led projects for telenovelas, series and variety shows.

Riikka is a graduate of Helsinki School of Economics, Finland’s top business school. She also studied Chinese Language and Literature at Fudan University in Shanghai, and is a fluent Finnish, English, French and Mandarin speaker. Since graduating, Riikka has held a number of market analyst roles, including Head of Research at a leading business advisory service in Shanghai, and most recently was Business Intelligence Manager at B Medical Systems in Luxembourg.

Naomi is an engineer and leader, her career has been spent in the Broadcast and Communications industry including technology leadership roles at the BBC, ITV and Sony both in Europe and the US. Now Naomi has a number of Board positions and focuses on the role that technology will play in the future, advocating for technology as a force for positive change.

Naomi is currently Chair of Council at the International Broadcasting Convention, Co-Chair of the Institute for the Future of Work, Non Executive Director at Sony UK Technology Centre, Focusrite Plc and Oxford Metrics plc. She is Past President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Vice President at the Royal Academy of Engineering. Naomi also serves on the UK Government’s Science and Technology Awards Committee and the 1851 Royal Commission’s Industry and Engineering Committee.

Naomi was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2018 for Services to the Engineering Profession.

Madeleine Noland is the President of the Advanced Television Systems Committee Inc. Widely respected for her consensus-building leadership style, she chaired the ATSC technology group that oversees the ATSC 3.0 next-generation broadcast standard before being named ATSC President in May 2019. Previously, she chaired various ATSC 3.0-related specialist groups, ad hoc groups and implementation teams since 2012.
A 15-year industry veteran, Noland held key technology management and standards roles at Backchannelmedia Inc., Telvue Corp. and LG Electronics.  She received TV NewsCheck’s “2019 Futurist” Women in Technology Award and was named one of 2018’s “Powerful Women in Consumer Technology” by Dealerscope magazine. In 2016, she received the ATSC’s highest technical honor, the Bernard J. Lechner Outstanding Contributor Award. She graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts.

Sam Matheny is Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at the National Association of Broadcasters.  With over 25 years of experience in the broadcast and data networking industries, including earning a patent for inventing mobile and interactive DTV technologies, Sam leads NAB’s technology team in its efforts to promote innovation and propel broadcast technology into the future.  He also provides overall leadership for PILOT, formerly NAB Labs, as well as NAB’s TV, Radio, and Digital Technology Committees.
Sam is a member of the Academy of Digital Television Pioneers and he serves on the board of governors for the National Wireless Safety Alliance.  He has served as an advisor to numerous startup and technology companies and is currently engaged with Reveal Mobile, a location-based advertising technology company, and Haystack TV, a personalized OTT headline news channel.  He has previously served on the FCC Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council (CSRIC), the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Integrated Public Alert Warning System Network Advisory Council (IPAWS NAC), and on the board of directors for the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) where he was Chairman of the specialist group on the next generation of digital television.
Before joining NAB, Sam served as Vice President of Policy and Innovation for Capitol Broadcasting Company where he focused on strategic media applications, mobile wireless content delivery, smart TV, and helped secure multiple patents for broadcast Internet distribution.  He has also held management positions with mobile development, satellite, digital television, web development, and interactive video companies.
Sam holds a B.S. in Communications from East Carolina University, an M.S. in Technology Management from North Carolina State University, and a certificate for artificial intelligence and business strategy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  In 2007, he was named an American Marshall Memorial Fellow.

In activities on free-to-air television since the 80s, he has worked for the main broadcasters of the country:INTERACTIVE SPORT / RJ – Production Director; TV CULTURA / SP – Operations Director; BAND / SP – Head of Journalism Production, Production Director, Director of Operations and Technology; GLOBO INTERNATIONAL / NEW YORK – Editor and Producer; DIÁRIOS ASSOCIADOS / MANCHETE – Program Director. Education: UFF – Fluminense Federal University; PUC / SP – Pontifical Catholic University; SONY Institute of Video Technology – USA; UnB – University of Brasilia. He is currently Deliberative Council Member of SET and Director of Technology and Operations of SBT.

Joined Sony in 1988. With research interests ranging from digital video and image processing and information theory to video/audio compression and multidimensional signal processing, Mr. Gaggioni has served as session-chairman of 13 international conferences in the areas of HDTV and bandwidth compression systems. He was a member of the Advanced Television Advisory group to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (1987 to 1994). He is a Fellow of SMPTE and the recipient of the 2004 Leitch Gold Medal award for technology leadership. Mr. Gaggioni was chairman of the SMPTE technical groups on Digital Representation of the 1125/60 High Definition TV Standard (SMPTE 260M, 88-92) and Digital HDTV Serial Interfaces (SMPTE 292M, 93-96). He was also chairman for a SMPTE group on Editing of MPEG bit-streams for TV studio usage. Mr. Gaggioni represented Sony Corporation of America to the ANSI X3-L3 committee and the ISO/IEC MPEG coding group from 1988 to 1996. He has also given numerous presentations and tutorial courses on signal processing and advanced video technologies at international events sponsored by SMPTE, IEEE, and Eurasip organizations. He holds six patents and has authored 32 technical publications in the areas of video compression, digital filter banks and HDTV devices and systems. Mr. Gaggioni holds degrees in telecommunications, systems engineering, and electronic engineering from the University of Essex in Colchester, England; University of Pennsylvania, and Columbia University, respectively.

Jossi Fresco Benaim serves as Regional Head of Sales, Latin America for the Verizon Media Platform. His focus is on fostering long-term business relationships with clients in Latin America, promoting the benefits of
Verizon’s video end-to-end platform to deliver quality media experiences to consumers across every device. He has extensive experience with digital video technologies, media production workflows, global deployments and
software design, with an international emphasis in Israel, Europe, the U.S. and the UK.

Technician in Electronics by ETE in Sta. Rita do Sapucaí in 1975 and Engineer in Telecommunications by Universidade São Judas in 1982. He has worked in television companies since 1975. Member of SET Deliberative Council – Technology Board, SBTVD Forum – Technical Module, UHD Brazil Project – Distribution Group and IP Study Group of SET – Coordinator.

Raphael Severo is currently a Lawo Project Manager Engineer at Lawo AG, based in Germany. Among other activities, he works on the “Design of IP solutions” with clients.
With experience in the fields of media and infrastructure, he has worked for the last 13 years in the Brazilian  broadcast market, having participated as project leader in remote production and transmission of signals over IP.
In events with a higher reputation, such as the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the 2016 Rio Olympics and the Rock in Rio festivals from 2016 until 2020, Raphael has worked more than once as leading engineer for the IP system.

Kim has over 30 years experience in the media and broadcast industry. He’s part of Grass Valley’s product marketing team responsible for promotion of their networking and infrastructure product lines with a primary focus on IP Systems including HDR and UHD solutions.

Prior to GV, Kim was Senior Product Manager for Routing and Infrastructure at SAM (Snell Advanced Media) which was subsequently absorbed under the Grass Valley umbrella in 2018.

Graduated in electrical engineering with a focus on electronics and telecommunications at UGF RJ, Postgraduate in Satellite Transmission and Signal Processing by UNB DF and MBA in Project Management by FGV. He has been working in the Broadcast market for 35 years, including Rede Globo, TV Cultura, Record TV and Bandeirantes Radio and Television. Solid experience in technology update of Broadcast production and transmission systems. Acting in international and national events for sports coverage, journalism and entertainment. Member of the board of SET and the Brazilian Digital TV System Forum from 2016 to 2019.

Marco Feliziani has over 15 years’ experience in information technology, in the fields of  operations and strategy acquired at major information technology companies, and he is an evangelist of this market. He is currently a member of the Infrastructure and Cloud Products team at Embratel, with responsibility for the development of the IaaS products of the Digital Solutions portfolio, in addition to his involvement in projects of the América Móvil group in Latin America.
He holds a degree in Network Technology from Instituto Paulista de Estudo e Pesquisa, and a graduate degree  in project management from ITA, as well as an Extension Course in Process Management at PUC-SP.
